What better way to start a new year than to take a quick look back at our milestones of 2006?
Well, it was certainly a busy year in the matrix in 2006 with some 25 new releases to our label catalogue along with some great additions to the Alfa Matrix family.
When we look at the German alternative music chart reports (DAC) for the year 2006, I think we can once again be more than happy and proud of our label artist's achievements.
In the "Single Top 100" for 2006, we find 6 Alfa Matrix releases:
LEAETHER STRIP's return EP "Suicide Bombers" reached position #14, while Claus Larsen's two other EPs both respectively reached positions #31 ("Faetish") and #56 ("Walking On Volcano's"). Other nominated releases include the splendid collaboration between DISKONNEKTED and DIVE ("Frozen" #50), the comeback "Manifesto" EP from TECHNOIR (#79) and the new release from UNTER NULL ("Sacrament" #91).
A remarkable 8 releases from our label were included in the "Album top 50" category!
With a very honourable place #6 for "After The Devastation" confirmed to the world just how strong the return of LEAETHER STRIP was for our scene. We can also be VERY proud of the prestigious positions reached by our 3 label compilations of the year with "Endzeit Bunkertracks - act II" (#9), "Cyberl@b 5.0" (#11) and our anniversary compilation "Re:connected 2.0" (#30).
Other highlights from the German club charts included "Dead Or Alive" by PLASTIC NOISE EXPERIENCE (#34), "Talisman" by MONOLITH (#35), "Audio-Blender" by IMPLANT (#38) and "The Failure Epiphany", UNTER NULL's debut album (#43) which for sure made Erica Dunham one of the most promising newcomer acts in the scene for the year 2006.
Last but not least in 2006, as a label, Alfa Matrix reached position #6 in the Single category (in 2005, we reached #8), and the label took position #1 (!!!) in the album category (compared #4 in 2005).
A big thank you to all voting DJs who spin our records in their clubs and thumbs up to the Alfa Matrix artists for their great music…
It was also a nice surprise to see Alfa Matrix in the top 3 best-selling labels in 2006 for the famous export distributor Audioglobe. This was quite an accomplishment considering that Alfa Matrix worked with so many other export partners in 2006, which is not the case for many other labels who often prefer working with one main export partner, and without taking into account the success of our direct on-line sales via our own website with more than 9,000 unique customers in the last 5 years.
Other illuminating figures from Audioglobe included our "Endzeit Bunkertracks - act II" sampler as Audioglobe's second best selling compilation (and "Re:connected 2.0" on position #10). While we are not surprised seeing UNTER NULL, ZOMBIE GIRL or yet LEAETHER STRIP and DIVE vs. DISKONNEKTED amongst the 15 best-selling EPs of the year).
Now that 2007 is here… this can only be a magic "7" year!!! And the whole Alfa Matrix team wishes you all the best for the forthcoming 12 months.
All we can say is that we have already started off the New Year with 3 amazing new releases in stock from SERO.OVERDOSE, TECHNOIR and MENTALLO & THE FIXER.
We are also currently preparing another batch of new full length albums from ZOMBIE GIRL, MIND:STATE and LEAETHER STRIP (!!) as well as the debut EPCD from CRISK.
Looking ahead, in the next several months, we also have scheduled new releases from 32CRASH (that new project of FRONT 242's lead singer with the IMPLANT boys), STRAY (side-project of Erica Dunham from UNTER NULL), PLASTIC NOISE EXPERIENCE, I:SCINTILLA, the highly anticipated return of the BRUDERSCHAFT charity project…and possibly one…or two…surprising new signings to the label ;))
And I won't forget mentioning the upcoming new compilation project that we are launching together with VampireFreaks.com under the evocative title "Fxxk The Mainstream vol.1"…
