The sad news got officially confirmed this week… Talented American artist Shaun Frandsen has decided to put his GLIS project on hold to focus on new electronic projects.
Since 2000, Seattle-based genius Shaun Frandsen has released not less than 4 GLIS albums, he also co-wrote AYRIA's debut album and made outstanding remixes for a bunch of artists on the scene. For each new release, he never hesitated each time reinventing his sound, challenging himself again and again, collaborating with famous persons like Jean-Luc De Meyer of FRONT 242 or yet Tom Shear of ASSEMBLAGE 23 to just name a few. All by his own, he made several North American tours (including last years' successful tour with COMBICHRIST!) and played various shows across Europe including Leipzig - Germany last June at the WGT in front of a packed Kohlrabizirkus.
As Shaun Frandsen expresses it himself: "My musical interests have always been from that of more progressive electronic genres and inspired by the past Industrial/Electro greats (ie NITZER EBB and FRONT 242). For now I feel it is best to put the GLIS project behind to create a new project that more accurately represents my interests in the realm of electronic music with a clean slate. Moving forward, the new music project I'm working on is simply titled: SHAUN F. and it will be mainly an instrumental project existing on the foundations of Elektro, House and more contemporary versions of Electronica, while still holding on to influences like NE or 242. A good way to put it is that the SHAUN F. project will not be something that I would have directly classified as being "Industrial", so to speak… some of you might not appreciate that and I understand. There you have it… kind of enigmatic and not so straight forward as I thought this explanation would be, but all I can do is let the music speak louder than the words. I just finished the first test track for the SHAUN F. project".
