After some initial industrial solo recordings back in 1998, it was together with members of PLASTIC NOISE EXPERIENCE that the classically trained German musician Steffen Gehring took his step onto the electronic scene. And it was in the vocal talents of Julia Beyer that he found a female singer for his project TECHNOIR.
Soon the duet released their debut MCD "Requiem" and album "Groundlevel" on the German Bloodline label, and were immediately invited to play bigger festivals like Eurorock and Wave-Gotik-Treffen. In 2002 Sony also published a TECHNOIR cover version of Killing Joke's "Love Like Blood". After the 2007 release of "Manifesto" and the album "Deliberately Fragile", the duo decided to continue their musical careers on individual paths.
Cover versions of the Depeche Mode songs "Lie To Me" and "Sea of Sin" followed as proof of concept that TECHNOIR can nicely work with male vocals, taking the project to a new edge with Steffen's classically trained voice, and keeping the known melodic synth based melancholy as a trademark. After extensive writing and producing of new songs , Steffen is back in 2013 with the new EP and first music video "We Came For Love", celebrating the long awaited forthcoming 3rd album "We Fall Apart".
