Formed in 2003, Illinois-based quartet is spearheaded by Brittany Bindrim (vocals/words). Providing the sonic canvas for her voice are newly added Bethany Whisenhunt (bass) and co-founders Chad Mines (guitar) and Jim Cookas (guitar/synthesizer/programming).
It’s in a relatively small amount of time that I:SCINTILLA has made a significant impact on the American electronic/industrial music scene. Addicted to a relentless schedule of performing and recording, the band has built a strong fanbase in no time and managed to sell over 1000 copies of their self-released debut album without the help of any label or distributor!
The polished and seductive voice of lead female singer Brittany Brindrim often brought the band comparisons with GARBAGE, EVANESCENCE or THEATRE OF TRAGEDY. While their intricate layers of guitars and synths surrounding her aggressive vocals bring them closer in feel to artists like GRAVITY KILLS, STABBING WESTWARD, WHITE ZOMBIE or even NIN!
Their combination of hard-edged industro goth, crunchy guitars, trip-hop beats, psychedelic grooves, intense female vox and whirling electro mayhem is addictive catchy and furious all at the same time. The group precisely finding its force in its unique ability to seamlessly jump genres from fast paced saturated tracks to electro songs with a lighter feel, with a constant charismatic and alluring attitude.
Definitely one of the most valuable and surprising discoveries by the Belgian label Alfa Matrix who will release their new album in Summer 2006, I:SCINTILLA is a distinguished band with an interesting and agreeable vibe not often found in industrial music.
