Bio
French act TRISOMIE 21 was formed in 1980 by the Lomprez brothers Hervé and Philippe who released their (now cult!) debut album "Le Repos Des Enfants Heureux" in 1983 (Play It Again Sam/PIAS) which brought them comparisons to the cold wave movements lead by bands like THE CURE, JOY DIVISION, DURUTTI COLUMN, etc. One year later, the band started playing live across Europe and released their second LP "Passions Divisées".
After the "Wait and Dance" single, T21 break the charts and see their career totally take off with the release of the "Chapter IV" album whose mega hits "The Last Song" and "La Fête Triste" have since become 80's electro-wave classic songs in clubs and on radio's. The band also then embarks on their first international tour bringing them through France, Belgium, The Netherlands, Switzerland and Canada.
TRISOMIE 21 will continue being quite prolific with a bunch of 12" releases and albums including "Million Lights" in 1987, the live album "The Official Bootleg" in 1988, "Works" in 1989, "Works Tour", "Plays The Pictures", Distant Voices" or yet "Gohohako". Without mentionning the numerous re-releases on CD format and other single collections. Like many PIAS bands of the early 80's, T21 belong to the legendary pioneers of the cold electronic music movement together with luminariessuch as FRONT 242, NEON JUDGEMENT ,TUXEDOMOON, THE YOUNG GODS, etc. Through their quite impressive discography, the French duo managed to design a very own music style often descrired as cold wave electronic haunted by a dark soul and also characterised by the singer's unique vocal tone and their unmatchable sense for touching deep melodies.
After seven years of impenatrable silence besides some scarce compilation appearances, TRISOMIE 21 surprised everyone by giving a new sign of life through a remix for the French mega pop stars of INDOCHINE in 2003, and by releasing their brand new strudio album "Happy Mystery Child" the year after, marking in stone the strong and impressive return of the French cold-wave cult band TRISOMIE 21on the fotrefront of the scene. While revealing a more mature song-writing approach, more polished and refined melodies and strengthened choruses, the soul of the band had remained intact to the ultimate pleasure of their faithful early fanbase.
Thanks to the band's open-minded atittude and the fresh and modern tonality of this new album, "Happy Mystery Child" was also released in various remix forms allowing T21 to conquer new fans and find their way through the newest e-clash and electro/techno movements, getting this way remixed by artists like David Caretta, The Hacker, Paul Kendall, Millimetric, The Horrorist, Lady B, etc.
After lots of touring across the world through Brazil, Spain, Germany, Belgium, France, etc., TRISOMIE 21 are currently completing their new studio album for their new label Alfa Matrix who will before that release a special anniversary album. More details to be revealed soon… |
